Digital Video Installation at WAAS Gallery

These are photos from my current digital video show GLEAM at WAAS Gallery .
The show opened Sept.23rd 2011 and will run thru Nov. 30th.

Digital Video Performance Art

Digital Video by Edward Ruiz , Dance by Mina Davidovich .

These photos were taken during one of our re-hearsals .
The idea was to have a video piece that was split into 2 projections . One projection on the wall like a digital painting , while the other projection shone on the gallery floor like a spot light for which the dancer to perform in.
The slower moving geometry on the wall contrasted with the small frantic pixels that seemed to engulph mina davidovich as she performes.

The entire piece was choregraphed to an original music composition. Using computer software real time video layers moved with the vibrations from the music creating etherial connections between what was seen and what was heard.

Video Projection for Dia De Los Toadies

The 3rd Annual Dia De Los Toadies . Location: White Water on the Horse Shoe , New Braunfels, Texas . Saturday Aug.28th 2010.
Live video projection on a triangle shaped screen. With art direction from Clark of the Toadies I was able to create a set of visual images that we projected onto the screen during their rock show.

Designing , building and projecting media for the band ISHI.
These photos were taken at a ranch just outside Dallas county . It turned out to be a great location to try out the new set , my first live show / rehearsal with the band.



One of my first tests was out on the sidewalk. Back at the studio I spent time creating original visuals to go along with each of the bands songs. Once the visuals were created it was just a matter of loading them into my software, then mapping the projection onto the panels.

Piece of cake ... looks like i'm in the zone...

ROYGBIV at Mokah Gallery

Mokah Gallery in Deep Ellum. ROYGBIV
Artists: Kasten Searles and Edward ruiz .

I really enjoyed showing with Kasten,her paintings are colorfull and full of play.
She had a great variety of large and small works, including her own coloring books.

I had two pieces in the show , the wall with the color diamonds and a collaboration with Kasten's sofa piece.

The gallery looked great ! Thank You Courtney Miles and Kasten Searles !!
