Art Con 5 Stage

I had such a great time lighting up the art con 5 stage ! At times the stage seemed to gleam.

as for lighting...I used architectural led lighting fixtures for the set piece and conventionals for the band.
A strategically placed video projector gave me the extra effect I needed to complete the stage.

Setting up in an abandoned warehouse and producing this kind of show was challenging the entire event is put on by artists and musicians and is pretty D.I.Y.

underconstruction: Art Con 5 stage

Great Job Team Conspiracy!!!
The stage couldn't have been built with out the help from Erik Glissman and his stage building crew. Under the artistic direction of Courtney Miles my design is taking form. To have my stage concept approved and built is a huge thrill , everyone at art conspiracy is a joy to be around and after visiting the site I am pumped up and inspired to put the final touches on the video and lighting design.

Lighting and Video Background for The Ruby Revue at the Texas Theater

I've been lucky to have worked on several projects with Elisa Davis of the Ruby Revue. Most memorable was the Dallas Burlesque Festival earlier this year in which we were nominated for a best of Dallas award.Elisa wanted to shoot a video and asked me to help with lighting and some background footage.

So, we went back to the stage at The Texas Theater , they recently acquired a movie screen . Elisa and I decided to project old black and white motion picture logos on the screen behind the dancers.I also projected paparazzi camera men snapping photos of the girls.
The choreography was intense and the dancers had a lot of attitude . Elisa has her own take on burlesque and it shows in the routine. Can't wait to see the video.

New Sculpture at the Esplanade - Fair Park

Tenor was created for the Centennial Exposition by Lawrence Tenney Stevens in 1936 . The nude was made of aluminum and probably melted down during World War II to help with war efforts.
David Newton recently re-created the statue with plans to add the female Contralto as part of bringing back some of the missing history of Fair Park.

stage design for art con 5

my dreams have come true, this year I'm working with Courtney Miles and her set builders to create the stage look, lighting and video design for art con 5. here are a few preliminary sketches. This design is based on the dynamic cube, a square on edge. the pyramid stack of cubes is reminiscent of the 80's arcade game q-bert.

Part A + Part B = Toy

Things are really coming together here in dallas texas , our 3rd resin show and by the turn out we are here to stay. Once again we are meeting new toy designers and collectors . Seems like the word is getting out. Thank you to all who participated . The show had everything you could ask for . Customs , Mash-ups and Resin hand casts.

Dj. Mr. Rid created a toy themed soundtrack filled with sound effects , old toy jingles and popular songs about toys. For extra effect a video was compiled and projected onto the gallery wall, it visually re enforced the theme of the exhibit.

The first night comic book artist Kristian Donaldson painted live in the gallery the second night we left out sharpie markers and tacked up drawing paper for a public mural. It was a hit!

Not only were people buying and talking about the toys they were also photographing them as well, this show seemed to have a large number of shutterbugs . They zoomed in and snapped photos of their favorite toys! How Fun! special thanks to Scott Higgins of MonsterBot Studios.

Fair Park Texas Star Fireworks

I had a great time shooting the fireworks at fair park. I found myself a nice perch and pointed my lens at the texas star. I held the shutter open for long exposures so i could capture the fireworks as well as the Ferris wheel.
Thanks Photopol.us for spotlighting my photo!
